Materials

  • ¾" cherry or pine board:

    • (2) sides: 8" × 14"

    • (1) top: 8" × 18"

    • (1) stretcher: 3" × 16"

  • Wood glue

  • Finish: shellac or satin polyurethane

Tools Needed

  • Jigsaw or bandsaw

  • Drill and bit (for handle hole)

  • Router with roundover bit

  • Clamps

  • Sandpaper

Steps

  1. Cut Sides

    • Trace and cut a gentle arch at the base of each side for visual lift.

    • Drill a centered hand-hole at the top of one side for carrying.

  2. Attach Stretcher

    • Cut dados into the side panels 3" from the base. Fit stretcher snugly and glue.

  3. Attach Top

  4. Round Edges

    • Use router to round all corners and edges for comfort.

  5. Finish
