Article 71: Mobile Clamp Cart – Get Your Clamps Off the Wall

Clamps are essential, but storing them neatly can be frustrating. This rolling cart keeps them all within arm’s reach, categorized, and stable.

Materials

  • 3/4" plywood – (1) full 4×8 sheet

  • Caster wheels (4) – locking preferred

  • 1" dowels or 2×2 rails

  • Wood screws

  • Handle (optional)

Cut List

  • Base: 24" x 36"

  • Vertical panels (2): 24" x 36"

  • Shelves/rails: (as needed for layout)

Tools Needed

  • Circular saw or table saw

  • Drill/driver

  • Jigsaw (for curves, optional)

  • Square

  • Clamps!

Steps

  1. Assemble Base

    • Attach casters and vertical panels. Ensure 90° upright position.

  2. Add Clamp Supports

    • Stagger rails or dowels on both sides for parallel and F-style clamps.

  3. Add Shelving or Hooks

    • Store small clamps or spring clamps in cubbies or bins.

  4. Test Roll and Balance

    • Load clamps. Make sure cart is stable and rolls freely.
