Antique bow saws are light, agile tools for curves and joinery—but they often need tightening, realignment, or new blades to perform properly.
Restoration Checklist
Inspect Frame
Check for cracks; reglue joints if needed.
Replace Twine Tensioner
Use waxed string or replace with a leather strap and toggle.
Sharpen or Replace Blade
Use coping saw blades or new ¼" bandsaw blade cut to length.
Sand and Oil
Clean with 400-grit and apply BLO or tung oil.

Paracord or waxed twine
Boiled linseed oil
