This project is ideal for small shops, garages, or apartments where space is limited. The bench folds up against the wall when not in use.
Materials List
¾" Plywood (4'×8') – 1 sheet
2×4 studs – 4 pieces, 8' long
Piano hinge – 36"
Heavy-duty folding shelf brackets – 2
Lag screws and anchors
Wood glue and screws
Cut List
Workbench top: 24" × 48" (¾" plywood)
Wall cleat: 48" long (2×4)
Folding leg frame: two 24" verticals and one 44" horizontal (2×4s)
Tools Needed
Drill and bits
Circular saw
Stud finder
Measuring tape
Level
Assembly Instructions
Install Wall Cleat
Attach cleat to wall studs at 30–34" height with lag screws.
Attach Bench Top
Screw piano hinge to rear of bench top and to wall cleat.
Add Folding Brackets
Mount one under each side of the bench to support it when raised.
Optional: Add Legs
Build a folding leg frame for added strength.
