This sturdy and nostalgic tool tote is perfect for carrying hand tools from shop to site. Traditional design with angled ends and a dowel handle.
Materials
3/4" hardwood or softwood
Bottom: 24" × 8"
Sides: (2) @ 24" × 6"
Ends: (2) @ 8" wide × 10" tall (cut with angled tops)
1" hardwood dowel (handle): 18" long
Wood glue
1-1/4" wood screws or nails
Tools Needed
Saw (hand, circular, or table)
Drill + Forstner bit (for dowel hole)
Clamps
Screwdriver or hammer
Measuring tape and square
Steps
Shape End Pieces
Cut decorative angle or curve at top. Drill 1" hole centered 2" from top for handle.
Assemble Body
Attach ends to bottom panel with glue and screws. Then add side panels.
Install Handle
Insert dowel into holes. Glue in place.
Finish
Sand and apply oil or shellac.
