A lightweight and classic folding stool makes a perfect companion for outdoor events, camping, or even small-space seating. This project requires a few hardwood pieces and a fabric or leather seat.
Materials
Hardwood (oak or maple):
(4) legs: 1" Γ 1.5" Γ 24"
(2) stretchers: 1" Γ 1.5" Γ 13"
Dowels: (2) @ 3/8" Γ 1.5"
Nylon strap or canvas seat: 13" Γ 20"
Brass or stainless bolts, washers, and locking nuts (4 sets)
Tools Needed
Drill/driver
3/8" drill bit
Handsaw or miter saw
Sandpaper
Wrench
Staple gun (for fabric seat)
Steps
Cut Legs and Stretchers
Bevel or round ends if desired.
Drill Pivot Holes
Drill 3/8" holes centered at 12" up from bottom.
Assemble Frame
Bolt legs together in an βXβ configuration.
Attach stretchers between opposite legs using screws or dowels.
Install Seat
Staple or screw canvas securely to inside of frame.
