This Shaker-style wall shelf is elegant, sturdy, and simple to build. It’s perfect for displaying pottery, books, or tools.
Materials
3/4" hardwood (cherry, maple, or pine recommended)
Back: (1) @ 30" × 18"
Shelves: (2) @ 30" × 6"
Sides: (2) @ 18" × 6" (with curves)
Screws (1-1/4")
Wood glue
Tools Needed
Jigsaw or bandsaw (for curves)
Drill + countersink bit
Clamps
Sandpaper (120 to 220 grit)
Router (optional for roundovers)
Build Steps
Shape Sides
Cut decorative curves on sides using a template.
Cut Rabbets
Back panel fits into rabbets on shelf backs for clean mounting.
Assemble
Glue and screw shelves to sides. Attach back panel with glue and screws.
Finish
Sand smooth and apply oil or shellac.
