This flip-top stand lets you mount two benchtop tools on a rotating platform—store one, flip to the other. Perfect for jointers, planers, or sanders.

Materials

  • 3/4" plywood – (1) 4×4 sheet

  • 2×4 framing lumber – (4) @ 8'

  • 3/8" bolts (2) @ 10"

  • Locking casters – (4)

  • T-nuts and knobs

  • Wood screws, glue

Cut List

  • Top platform: 24" x 18"

  • Side panels: (2) @ 24" x 18"

  • Base frame: 20" x 30"

  • Cross braces: varies

Tools Needed

  • Table saw or circular saw

  • Drill and Forstner bits

  • Wrenches

  • Clamps

  • Sander

Steps

  1. Build Base

    • Assemble 2×4 frame with casters for mobility.

  2. Construct Side Panels

    • Drill 3/8" holes for pivot bolts exactly aligned.

  3. Attach Flip Platform

    • Insert pivot bolts through platform into sides. Use washers and knobs to lock in place.

  4. Mount Tools

    • Secure tools on opposite faces of flip panel. Ensure balance.

  5. Test Rotation and Lock

    • Flip between tools. Lock securely with knobs and T-nuts.
