Wooden trays are both functional and aesthetic. They can be used for serving or as a decorative element in any room. Here’s a simple guide to building a sturdy, stylish wooden tray with handles.
Materials

Tools Needed
Circular saw or miter saw
Drill and drill bits
Sandpaper or sander
Wood clamps
Steps
Cut the Wood Pieces
Cut four pieces of the 1x8 pine board for the sides of the tray (two pieces 20” long, two pieces 14” long).
Cut a piece of 1/4” plywood to fit the bottom of the tray (14” x 20”).
Assemble the Frame
Use wood glue and screws to attach the four side pieces, forming a rectangular frame.
Install the Bottom
Attach the plywood bottom to the frame with wood glue and screws.
Add Handles
Cut two 1x8 pieces to 8” long. Drill holes for handles and attach them to the sides of the tray using screws.
Sand and Finish
Sand all surfaces and apply your choice of wood finish or paint.
