A blanket ladder leans against the wall to hold throws, towels, or even magazines. With just a few boards and some angled joinery, it adds charm to any room.
Materials
2×2 pine or poplar – (2) @ 72" (side rails)
1" dowel or 1×2 – (5) @ 18" (rungs)
Wood glue
Screws or dowel pins (optional)
Tools Needed
Miter saw
Drill and bit set
Measuring tape and level
Clamps
Sander
Steps
Cut Rails and Rungs
Side rails: 72". Rungs: 18". Optional: taper the top of each rail for aesthetics.
Mark Rung Positions
Mark rung placements starting 12" from the bottom, spaced 12" apart.
Drill Holes or Pocket Screw
Use a jig to drill holes for dowels or cut notches if using rectangular rungs.
Glue and Assemble
Attach rungs between rails. Clamp and square the assembly.
Finish
Sand thoroughly and apply a stain or leave it raw for a rustic look.
