This chisel rack keeps edges protected and your most-used hand tools at eye level. Made from scrap hardwood, it’s a 2-hour project with lasting shop value.
Materials
3/4" hardwood (scrap) – 12" × 6"
1/4" plywood (back panel)
Wood glue
Screws for mounting
Tools Needed
Drill and Forstner bits
Saw (hand or table)
Sandpaper
Ruler and square
Steps
Mark Hole Layout
Evenly space 1" apart. Use Forstner bits matching each chisel handle’s diameter.
Drill Holes
Bore halfway through front rail (about 3/4" deep). Test-fit each chisel.
Cut Slots
Saw vertical relief cuts from front edge to each hole, allowing easy tool removal.
Attach Back Panel
Glue and screw the rack face to a plywood backer for stability.
Mount to Wall
Use screws into studs or French cleat.
