This compact tool cabinet keeps essentials organized and visible. The pegboard doors offer flexible storage, and the inside holds shelves and holders for planes, chisels, and more.

Materials

  • ¾" plywood:

    • Back: 24" Ɨ 36"

    • Sides: 24" Ɨ 12" (2)

    • Top/Bottom: 12" Ɨ 36" (2)

    • Doors: ¾" pegboard panels, 24" Ɨ 18" (2)

    • French cleat: 3" Ɨ 36"

  • Shelf supports, dowels, screws

Tools Needed

  • Table saw

  • Drill and bits

  • Pegboard hooks

  • Clamps

  • Square

Steps

  1. Build the Cabinet Box

    • Join sides, top, and bottom using pocket screws or dados. Attach the back panel flush.

  2. Install French Cleat

    • Screw one half to back of cabinet and other to wall studs.

  3. Mount Shelves and Racks

    • Customize inside with plane till, chisel rack, and shelf for screwdrivers.

  4. Attach Doors

    • Hang pegboard doors with piano hinges. Install magnetic catches.

  5. Load and Enjoy

    • Organize tools using hooks and dowels. Label if desired.
