Round cutting boards offer a timeless design for serving and prep. This edge-grain version is easier to make than end grain, and still beautiful.
Materials
Maple or walnut strips: (8) @ 18" Γ 1.5" Γ 1"
Titebond III (food-safe)
Mineral oil and beeswax finish
Tools Needed
Jointer and planer (optional)
Bandsaw or jigsaw
Belt sander or random orbital sander
Router with roundover bit
Steps
Mill Strips
Plane smooth and square. Edge glue with clamps.
Trace Circle
Use trammel or large bowl as guide (14" diameter).
Cut and Shape
Cut circle with bandsaw. Smooth with sander.
Round Edges
Use 1/4" roundover bit.
Finish
Sand to 220 grit, apply mineral oil/beeswax.
