Restoring a wooden chair can breathe new life into a piece that’s been in the family for generations or found at a flea market. This guide walks through the basic restoration of a worn, wobbly chair.

Materials

  • Clear polyurethane – 1 can

Tools Needed

  • Clamps

  • Putty knife

  • Sander or sanding block

  • Small hammer

  • Chisel

  • Screwdriver

  • Wood clamps

Steps

  1. Disassemble the Chair
Carefully remove the legs, seat, and backrest if possible. Label parts for reassembly.

Apply filler, let dry, and sand smooth.

  5. Sand All Surfaces
